Katerina Velliou is a graduate of the Department of Visual and Applied Arts at the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the Postgraduate Program “Architectural Design” at the Department of Architecture of the University of Thessaly. One of the issues of her artistic practice is the study of the structured fabric created by buildings, the atmospheres produced over time, which constitute the identity of each place. The urban fabric is treated as a static system that changes and transforms gradually over time. The study of these changes in form and the city itself is redefined over time through the duality of “decay – genesis of new condition” that permeates her works. She has presented 3 solo exhibitions (2020, P-art Gallery Virtual 3D space, Chicago / 2019, Zygote Press Shop, Cleveland / 2016, Metamorfosis Art Gallery, Thessaloniki), collaborated with institutions and bodies in Greece and abroad [ESAG, PAD, Ministry of Culture, Orestiadi Foundation, NOMUS, MOMUS, Zygote Press Org, AUTh] and has participated in group exhibitions, residencies, and workshops in Greece and abroad. Her works have been included in collections, catalogs of group exhibitions, projects, and online platforms in Greece and abroad. She lives and works in Thessaloniki.
